Long ago (in terms of mobile dev), I wrote about push technologies and said
"What could be more interesting is examining the communications patterns of aggregated where more services share a push or pull the message and the corresponding IP connection to the server. Obviously Google and Apple are well positioned to do so where people subscribe to a multiple of their services or applications based on technologies of them."
Since then we've got services push iPhone and cloud of Android Device messaging (C2DM) .so C2DM actions of Android the same mechanism used for things like email, but I'm not sure and iPhone push notifications using the shared as proposed.(someone please let me know if you know that do)
However, Nokia very recently announced their push services that work explicitly as The proposed …
"A keep alive message for all services using the Notifications API.".
